The author had worked for the San Francisco Chronicler beginning in 1982 and was the only reporter in the nation assigned full-time cover of AIDS. 

Book is ivory boards with sage-colored cloth spine in near-fine condition; no internal marks, boards straight and square, title in gold on spine. Jacket is in near-fine condition, not price-clipped or torn, just some minor edge wrinkling.
