born in 1122 and by the age of 15 was Duchess of Aquitaine. She married Louis
VII of France. After strong-arming the church to annul this marriage, she
eventually weds Henry II. After backing her sons in an armed rebellion, Eleanor
was imprisoned by Henry. This book is written as a memoir from her confinement.
