A fine copy of Cecelia Holland's account of the life the warlord Cesare Borgia, the illegitimate son of Pope Alexander VI, and his army's consolidation of the Papal holdings, as seen through the eyes of one of his spies, Nicholas Dawson, who is a secretary to the Florentine ambassador.

Book is mustard boards with a taupe cloth spine, stamped in gold. The title is embossed in the front boards. Jacket is in fine condition, always protected, and features a wrap-around detail of the fresco in the Vatican Apostolic Library of Coronation of Pope Sixtus V in 1585.
