Classical Whodunits - first US edition

edited by Mike Ashley

Nice hard bound reprint of the Carroll and Graf paperback of a collection of twenty-two writers of historical crime. Jacket is fine, intact, no price. Book was purchased specifically for the following authors' contributions:

"The White Fawn", by Steven Saylor; page 72. Another tale of Gordianus the Finder, the central figure in Saylor's "Roma Sub Rosa" series. Saylor also contributed the preface, "A Murder Then and Now".

"Investigating the Silvius Boys", by Lindsey Davis; page 25. Lindsey takes us back to the founding of Rome in 753BC, introducing us to the first Roman private investigator

"The Statuette of Rhodes", by John Maddox Roberts; page 96. Decius Metellus, the protagonist of Roberts' "SPQR" series is unceremoniously dumped onto the first departing ship from Alexandria, only to find his way into a murder investigation in Rhodes.
