Daughter of Lazarus - later US edition
by Albert A. Bell, Jr.
A splendid combination of deft story-telling with solid historical
information. This is the story of Lorcis, slave of decadent Roman aristocrats,
who unknowingly holds a clue to her past. Aided by a fellow slave and a kindly
nobleman, she undertakes a journey that leads from the ashes of Vesuvius and the
bloody horrors of the Coliseum to the Emperor Domitian's palace and the secret
meetings of the Christians. So well written that the reader really gets a feel
of what it would have been like to be a female slave in ancient Rome -- unable
to control what happens to your body, your child.
Book is a 4 3/4" by 8" paperback, reprinted from the original paper edition
published in 1988.
