The Decameron - first US edition

by Giovanni Boccaccio

Complete and unexpurgated, this is the modern translation by Richard Aldington. Originally written in the middle of the fourteenth century, this book contains one hundred stories told in ten days by seven ladies and three young men, prompted by the horror of a universal pestilence which had already decimated. Containing, colored illustrations by Jean De Bosschere, this is a very nice, collectible copy of a classic title.

Book has black boards with the spine decorated in gold and the title printed on a field of lavender; 576 pages; corners rounded but not bumped; top page edges inked; pages browning; clean inside and out. An excellent, collectible copy.

DJ is unclipped with a price of $1.98.
