Pawn in Frankincense - first US edition

by Dorothy Dunnett

Fourth book in the Lymond series. In early 1552 the royal galley Dauphine sails to Marseilles, bound for Algiers and Constantinople, with Francis Crawford aboard as a 'special envoy' to the French court. He is also seeking a young, blonde child, and an Irish women. This book has one of the most intense, heart-wrenching scenes I have ever read, "The Chess Game in the Seraglio". Unparalleled writing.

Book is fine, read cloth with bold stamped lettering on spine. Dust jacket is in very good plus condition, intact, with small amount of edge wear at folds.
