The Silver Chalice - first US Edition

by Thomas Costain

A fine piece of historic fiction. Costain creates a tale whose fictional hero Basil of Antioch, an artisan, is purchased from slavery to create a decorative casing for the cup used at the Last Supper ... the Silver Chalice. This is a great read, taking you to many of the capitals of the ancient world through which Basil and the two women in his life, one good and one evil, walk.

Book is blue boards with black and silver printed spine, in fine condition, straight, square and clean, with maps on the internal end papers. Top page edges inked in matching blue. States, "First Edition after the printing of a signed and numbered Limited Edition". Jacket is in very good shape, minor chip on front panel near fold, and closed tear on rear panel. Price is intact.

This is a really nice, collectible copy of a great novel by one of the masters of historic fiction.
