SPQR V - Saturnalia - first US edition
by John Maddox Roberts
Fifth book in the SPQR series; first in hardback. Sporting an anachronistic,
decidedly modern-day sensibility, the Roman senator Decius Caecilius Metellus
the Younger returns to his native Rome from Rhodes at a time when Julius Caesar
is beginning his rise to power. Worldly and a bit of a playboy, the prodigal son
has been recalled by his family to investigate the death by poisoning of Celer,
a wealthy and influential relative. A fun read, if you like the series.
Book has black boards with the title in gold on the spine; clean and unmarked
inside and out; purchased new and red once with care, hence near fine.
Jacket is fine, price intact at $23.95, always mylar-protected.
