Sword at Sunset - 1st UK edition

by Rosemary Sutcliff

Tells the tragic story of Arthur, or Artos the Bear, who built up his own band of free-lance heavy cavalry to guard their country from the invading Saxons. This is not the typical 'knight in shining armour' story with the Round Table and the many-towered Camelot, but rather a story of the solitary figure of one great man more real than legend.

Book has black boards with the title in gold on a red field, on the spine. It is straight and square with the top page edges inked in blue. Map-illustrated end papers.

The jacket is in nice shape, price intact at 21 shillings, tiny chip at base of spine, otherwise in fine condition.

A collectible copy of a book which is difficult to find as a non-book club edition.
