To Serve Them All My Days - first US edition

by R. F. Delderfield

The story of a young man who survives the dreary carnage of the Western Front to become a teacher at a remote English "public" school, where he gradually matures from a shell-shocked veteran into a great headmaster whose influence touches and changes the lives of hundreds of boys who pass through his care. Made into a wonderful 7-part Masterpiece Theater series in the early 1980's.

Book is blue boards with the title printed in gold on the spine. Lower front corner dinged, mild shelf wear all around, gift inscription on FFE. Surprisingly hard to find this as a first trade and NOT a BCE. There is NO BCE dot on the rear, and this trade edition is a full 1/2" taller than the BCE.

Jacket is price-clipped, with chipping at lower spine folds with wrap-around art work.
